Pavlos Gypas was born in Corfu-Greece, in 1948 and he lives in
Athens since 1960. During the period of 1967-1980 he attends guitar
lessons in the National Conservatoire.
The inspiration of "getting into the world" of the guitar
construction, steps from his encounter with the guitar-maker
Nicholas Ioannou, in 1979. His wandering in the instrument
construction field begins in 1980.
Many well-known guitar soloists as Leo Brouwer and Roberto Aussel
said that Pavlos Gypas' guitars follow exceptionally high
quality standards, . Moreover many
Greek soloists as Evangelos Assimakopoulos, Lisa Zoe (of the duo
Evangelos & Lisa), Elena Papandreou and Vasiliki Leontari play
and record with Pavlos Gypas’
guitars.
The energy, the clarity and the long duration of the sound in
combination with the "easiness" in playing the guitar make Pavlos
Gypas' instruments highly valued and recognized.
Pavlos Gypas' work is greatly accepted not only in Greece but abroad
as well. He has participated in numerous exhibitions - contests, two
of them organized by the Radio France in 1985 and 1988.
